Transformers - Sneak Peek

Thanks for all your patience! I finally have the green light to start sharing the cards I worked on for the New TRANSFORMERS set.

The official set will be available to purchase at the end of May 2013 (I'll provide details when the release date gets closer).

So here's a progress shot.... what my desk tends to look like when working on multiple cards.

More to come, Stay Tuned!

Thanks :)

501st Sketchcards

I'm really excited to help out the 501st Legion!!! I'll be working on a handful of sketchcards for the 501st 15th Anniversary project that will later be distributed during this Summer's Star Wars Celebration VI.

More info on the 501st Charity Appearances:

While the 501st was initially founded to unite costumers with a penchant for Star Wars villainy, one of their real-world missions is to bring good to local communities through volunteer charity work. The 501st is always looking for opportunities to brighten the lives of the less fortunate and to bring awareness to positive causes on both a local and global scale.

Spidey vs Green Goblin

  ©2012 Copyright Gerald de Dios

Here's quick animated gif of both my Spidey & Green Goblin Sketchcards!

I didn't intend for both these cards to connect. I originally planned on making these as stand alone cards. But somewhere down the line I decided to also make them puzzle cards.

I was in the process of inking the Green Goblin... after I was laying down the base colors I decided last minute to connect the 2 cards by painting in a seamless sky.

Here's a animated gif to see how the 2 cards connect :)

When taking this photo on my desk, I set up Green Goblin off to the background and took several macroshots where each card blurred. Then took it into PS and animated the shots together.

Progress Shots:

You know if there's a Spidey..... not too far, there's a Villain!

ACEO Magazine Feature

As much as I enjoy creating sketch cards I really enjoy sharing my progress shots. It's what I love when visiting other artist websites/blogs. It's like a tiny window into their world....errr, studio. One of my favorite sites to visit is the ACEO Magazine Blog! Little did I know my works were featured in this months blog post along with another talented artist, Marlo Lodrigueza. The ACEO Magazine started 3 years ago by founder/owner/writer, Angela Taylor. The Magazine used to be in print but has recently gone the digital route and has a wonderful blog! Such a great group of inspirational artists always sharing :D
